How To Set Intentions With Coaching

Are you looking to slay your coaching calls? Similar to my soulful selling method, this framework holds space for the clients – but with a very high focus.

This framework is based on one essential question: ask your client, “What are 3 things you want to get out of the call today”?

Read on and learn how to set the intention, uncover and discover, validate and clarify, offer coaching, and give support.

Step 1: Intention Setting

This is the time when you let your client know how the call will go.

This step is so important because it sets the mood, sets yourself up as the authority, builds trust, and ultimately helps calm people’s nerves.

We need to use this step to somatically make sure their bodies are relaxed before we dive into the call – ensuring they are relaxed and trust us is based on yoga philosophy.

Ask your soul client, “What are 3 things you want to get out of the call today?” And THEN set your intention and expectations for the call.


Step 2: Uncover & Discover

This is all about listening to what is present for the person and making sure that you continuously hold space for them to dive deeper. The best medicine you can show up with is:


  No judgements


This step is not talking too much, not giving advice (yet), and not overwhelming them. 

Spend half the time (20-30 minutes) asking questions about what’s present for them? Your focus here is to hold the energy container your client needs to feel safe.

If we do not do this, we will not be able to offer our medicine in a soulful way…


Step 3: Validate & Clarify

Through uncovering and discovering, your client has probably already shared a lot with you. To move forward, you need to non-judgmentally allow them to show up as they are and let them know that:

  you hear them

  you see them

  you are validating their experience

Whether they are saying, “I feel really scared,” “I don’t know if I should do this,” “I feel like an imposter,” or “I don’t ever believe that moving to Tulum is possible,”…

You need to validate their story.

Spend at least 10 minutes using empathetic language to let your client know you understand where they have been. Also, this is a time to clarify where they’re at (never assume).
