Why Long Form Content is the #1 way to Grow

July 1, 2023

In this episode of Waking Up with Melissa, we dive into the world of content creation and increasing visibility with long form content. We break down the top 5 social media apps and how to use them in your soul business. Join me in this exciting episode as I discuss the top 5 ways I grew this podcast and a fresh perspective on how to maximize long form content.

A BREAKDOWN OF THIS EPISODE

[00:06:27] Understanding the purpose and usage of different platforms

[00:11:48] The importance of increasing visibility and nailing your content strategy

[00:13:16] Consistency as key for podcast success and growth

[00:24:16] Lessons learned from living the “van life” lifestyle

Reason why people use long form content

They have to know…

Do I know this person? Do I feel like I know them? Do I like them? Do I like the way they show up? Do I like the way they think, their perspective? And do I ultimately trust them?

I want you to put yourself in this position. Would you trust somebody that has never shown their face on their brand or has never actually spoken and you never even knew or heard the resonance of their sound versus someone who potentially shows up on a podcast and now they’re spending 20 minutes with you every single morning? Whatever it is, the longer piece of content is absolutely going to always outperform all of that short piece of content. It logically makes sense that if you spend more time with your ideal client in this way, those things are going to convert easier.

Leveraging Pinterest, TikTok, and Instagram for Maximum Impact

Once upon a time, when I first started my business, I was like, we’ll just do all of the things.

NO. That’s not a good strategy.

Pinterest is basically a search engine.

Instagram by nature is a nurturing platform.

TikTok is an outreach platform.

Understanding those three different platforms and why we’re using them is important and vital to your business.

But you don’t need to be on all of the things because you’re not going to do and perfect one good thing. I want you to pick one thing. All of the things work, but  if you’re a solopreneur and you’re just getting started, all of this shit can be quite fucking just daunting and overwhelming.

I just want you to focus on one platform that you feel you’re going to go all in on.

5 ways I grew my Podcast

  1. Being consistent.
  1. I treated my podcast as if it was a paid offer.
  1. Keep an open mind.
  1. Keeping it real and unfiltered.
  1. I don’t hold back on value. There’s no gatekeeping.

Lessons Learned from Living the “Van Life”

First thing that I want to share with you is to notice when there’s something that’s difficult and it’s just because you haven’t done it before, and you need to sit with that discomfort. And then notice when something is difficult and you feel like you’re going the wrong way.

Second thing is, what have you been doing that no longer feels good? Whether it’s the fact that you’re in a friendship that no longer feels good or whether you’ve been doing something in your life till this point, and it might have felt great before, but all of a sudden, it just doesn’t feel good. How can you honor that?

Last thing, we just needed stability. We all wanted to ground in.

Everything was so intentional. Everything was meant and designed for comfort and survival. And so I learned all of the lessons with Mother Nature and being in Mother Nature and being stuck in the mud and connecting with the elements again and having our awning almost ripped because a gust of wind came in and it wasn’t anchored all the way down. And fighting with fire because we couldn’t get the fire to go on. And we needed to eat and we needed to cook. We got all of the lessons, and I know that there’s more, but this part was so important. I know that for me, Pachamama wanted me to go into nature and connect with the sacred element beings again in a different way.

And I got it. I received what I was supposed to receive.

Now there’s a new chapter.

Now I’m grounding into a home to stability, to quietness, to routine, to the monotony of everyday knowing what’s going to happen.
